Similar to medicines that are manufactured for humans, veterinary drugs are used for animal wellness. Nevertheless, the scope of veterinary medicines is equally widespread and it encompasses almost all animal species. Veterinary APIs are the key ingredients of these animal medicines. To name a few, Albendazole, Butaphosphan, Calcium Iodate, Clorsulon, Cobalt Sulphate, Diminazene, Fenbendazole and Halquinol are some of the widely used veterinary APIs. However, there are several other APIs used in manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs for animals.
Following are some of the veterinary APIs with their uses and benefits
Albendazole
Albendazole is an anti-worm medication i.e. it is used for treating certain tapeworm infections in both humans as well as animals. However, it has several other benefits. It is commonly used for treating Acariasis, Giardiasis, Filariasis, Neurocysticercosis, Hydatid Disease, Pinworm Disease, and Liver Fluke.
Butaphosphan
Butaphosphan is an organic phosphorus compound. Today, a solution containing 10% butaphosphan and cyanocobalamin, labeled as Catosal. The solution act as a metabolic stimulant and is found to be effective in the prevention or treatment of Vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies in animals.
Calcium Iodate
Calcium Iodate is an inorganic compound of calcium and iodine. It exists in two forms namely anhydrous Ca(IO3)2 and monohydrate Ca(IO3)2(H2O). After intake, it provides an adequate amount of iodine to animals that improve thyroid functioning. Moreover, the most common uses of Calcium Iodate are in the treatment of goiter in animals. Additionally, it can be used as a disinfectant.
Clorsulon
It is a compound that is used for the treatment and control of liver flukes in animals. The compound belongs to the benzenesulphonamide family. Moreover, its doses can be given either orally or via an injection. Clorsulon is useful in the treatment of Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke) infestation in cattle.
Veterinary API suppliers
Increasing awareness regarding animal healthcare has been a driving force behind boosting the global veterinary API market. Asia Pacific region has been at the forefront that is experiencing growth of this market. Less stringent regulations make Asia pacific region more lucrative for foregoing investors as well.
