Precautions For Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride

Nov 09, 2023Leave a message

The use of quinolones can induce seizures. For patients with known or suspected central nervous system diseases that may lead to seizures or lower seizure threshold, attention should be paid to the use of moxifloxacin.
Due to limited clinical trial data, this drug is not recommended for patients with severe liver function damage.
Moxifloxacin, like other quinolone and macrolide antibiotics, may cause QT interval prolongation in some patients. Due to the lack of relevant clinical data, this drug should be avoided for patients with prolonged QT interval, patients with hypokalemia, or patients receiving Class Ia (such as quinidine, procainamide) or Class III (such as amiodarone, sotoprolol) antiarrhythmic drugs. When using moxifloxacin, caution should be exercised.
The combination of moxifloxacin and the following drugs does not rule out the effect of prolonging QT interval: cisapride, erythromycin, antipsychotic drugs, and tricyclic antidepressants. Therefore, caution should be exercised when using these drugs together. Due to limited clinical data, moxifloxacin should be used with caution when conditions that can cause arrhythmias, such as severe bradycardia or acute myocardial ischemia, exist.
